The Vintage Music Productions CD "Blue Steele and his Orch: The King of Rhythm", at Amazon, has one review, and, from my opinion of their Nat Shilkret CD, a fair one, that it sucks sound-wise. Does anyone here have it, and thereby able to give me another review? I just ordered it, so no matter. But I'd like to know if "sounds like it was re-mastered with a railroad spike" is maybe something near to accurate?

Dear Mike,
I have both the Blue Steele and Nat Shilkret Vintage Music Productions' CDs.
And while neither are not up to John RT Davies, Doug Pomeroy, Jack Towers or Archeophone remastering quality, this does not worry me.
These are rare records and near-mint clean copies would not have been available
I too read Mr A W Senior's review on the Amazon site.
His opinion, "The worst sounding reissue ever" is a bit harsh.
I wonder what he would say about some of the Ma Rainey reissues some of us have put up with over the last 70 years?
Perhaps, I am not the best person to ask regarding remastering quality.
I want, but do not demand it.
To me, the availability of the music is more important.
If they have to use a railroad spike to produce it, so be it.
As long as I can hear the music.
And this is the only CD with a comprehensive collection of this band's records.
Very kind regards,
Bill.
