Didn’t get enough Trad Jazz at the Sacramento Music Festival last month? Well, we’ve got a deal for you.

For nearly 30 years, the Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society’s annual Trad Jazz Camp has been teaching middle and high school musicians to play traditional jazz. Some of the best trad players around emerged from the Camp experience, including trumpeter Bria Skonberg, the fabulously talented Au brothers and pianist Jason Wanner.

The Camp is funded by student tuition, private donations, scholarships awarded by individuals and other jazz societies, and endowment funds from the STJS Foundation. But in 2012 STJS recognized that more funding was needed – what better way to raise money than to hold a jazz concert, with

The Professors as the band??

On August 3, 2013 we will do it again – with the second annual Trad Jazz Camp Kickoff and Fundraiser!

Tickets are $35 ($20 for former Youth Campers) and include a BBQ dinner along with the best trad jazz to be found anywhere.

If you haven’t seen The Professors in action, you won’t want to miss this event – Camp Director Bill Dendle (trombone) leads the group which features Rusty Stiers – trumpet, Anita Thomas – clarinet, Jason Wanner – piano, Westy Westenhofer- tuba/bass, Ed Metz – drums, Eddie Erickson - banjo/guitar, and Shelley Burns – vocals.

For ticket info please contact Patti Jones at

patti at sacjazz.org

 or 916-712-1501 .

If you cannot make the concert, please consider sending a tax-deductible

donation to the STJS Foundation, P O Box 661763, Sacramento, CA 95866.

Help us “pass the torch” of trad jazz to yet another generation!!
