Funny how some folks put Phil Napoleon down. Perhaps because they rely  
on a record or two.

Dear Marek:

Funny how some folks put Phil Napoleon down. Perhaps because they rely  
on a record or two. Or call it New York Style or Nicksieland in a  
pejorative sense. I saw Napoleon many times at Nick's and sat in with  
his band twice. You are right, it was driving. And, Napoleon as a  
musician was wonderful and as a man, nice to a kid like me in the  
1950s who was trying to play jazz.
