Another option you could try is MuseScore (if that isn't what you've 
already tried)

The user guide says.....

   BB (*.mgu, *.sgu) (Import only)
BB files are created by the music arranging software, "Band-in-a-Box".
MuseScore includes experimental support for BB import.

No idea how good the "experimental support" is, but it's free and it
may be good enough for what you want.
