Thanks for your reply John (McClernan). 

I found a couple of links of the PBone being played, but obviously you can't really glean that much via Youtube and computer speakers etc. I've no doubt to those with ears (perhaps me too if I just heard a PBone and a proper brass trombone being played by themselves without a loud band around them) could immediately tell that the brass was better, but in terms of making an instrument very affordable they seem like a real breakthrough.

Anyway, I've got no axe to grind either way. I love the sound of a trombone - the more the merrier!
