[Dixielandjazz] Bob Nery RIP

Dear Friends:

I was saddened to learn of the recent death of Bob Nery of Apex, NC.  Bob was a fine clarinet and soprano saxophone player.  I played with him in the Capital City Jazz Band in the Raleigh area in the mid-1970s.  He also played with Tom Shea's Okeh Jazz Band and the Raleigh version of the Salty Dogs.  Bob was a very gentle and kind man, and I always enjoyed his playing.  He was recently retired from the Spring Hill School at the Dorothea Dix Hospital in Raleigh.  It seems unfair that he didn't enjoy a long and musical retirement, but sometimes that's the way it is.
