Off the top of my head, I can name at least 5 GREAT banjo players that
live in the metro Philadelphia area. (Smaller than NYC or Israel in
population) And , of course, know of more than 500 ranging from
adequate to great, who play in the Mummer's Day parade every New
Year's Day. Want to learn banjo? Come to Philadelphia. We have
thousands of them.

As an aside, I'm doing a New Orleans Funeral with Barbone Street for a
man who asked, 2 years in advance, that we do so upon his passing.

Instrumentation includes Banjo (Fanny Smith) and Tuba (list mate John
McClernan). And Franny must be in demand because he has a double that
day. <grin>

Yep, even y band which is dedicated to hard swinging Dixieland with
string bass and amplified guitar uses banjo and tuba several times a
year. Among the great banjoists we worked with are Franny (above), Al
Smith now deceased, and Steve DeBonaventura.

Cheers,
