I suspect these folks know how to price their performance. (vbg) A
$32 music charge for this kind of a band is very reasonable. This is a
wonderful event that has been a sell out for many years. Maplewood is
in New Jersey.

CHICKENFAT BALL

January 1 (Maplewood) – The tradition continues, this time on New
Year’s Day, with an undisputable all-star band entertaining all
afternoon, all for a reasonable price. This year you’ll hear Warren
Vaché (cornet), Ken Peplowski (clarinet, tenor sax), John Allred
(trombone), Bill Allred (his famous dad, also on trombone),Rossano
Sportiello (piano), Gary Mazzaroppi (bass), Eddie Metz (drums) and
Frank Vignola (guitar).

The future of the previous site is in question, so this popular annual
event will be moved to a nearby location within Maplewood. At this
moment, the negotiations are still in progress, so the sponsors have
stated that a map and directions will be sent with the tickets. This
is another reason why you shouldn’t count on buying tickets at the
door! The music runs from 2 to 5 PM, usually broken into three sets.

We have heard that they are arranging a fine room with an excellent
piano, and given the stars you will hear onstage it is well worth the
$32 entry fee. It is important to order your tickets in advance,
since capacity is somewhat limited and there are usually no seats to
be sold at the door. Send your check to Al Kuehn, 12 Lenox Place,
Maplewood, NJ 07040. Include SASE. Note your e-mail and phone
number with the order in case.
