Steve,

  Don't go.

One problem is that the nomenclature varies from country to country.
Correct me if I'm wrong, transatlantic friends but /Dixieland/ and /New
Orleans /seem to be pretty interchangeable terms in the US?

This list was a social network long before anyone thought of Facebook.
Back in the mists of time, Tony and I had our first face to face. We
met Bev and the (much missed) Bill Gunter at a gig where Pat Ladd was
playing in Bath (UK). That opened up a huge network of friends and
acquaintances.

In two days time we're making our 6th visit to The Bohem Ragtime Jazz
Festival. The name does nothing to convey the special nature of this
festival. We went the first time to meet up with Bill and Bev and I was
a bit doubtful about a weekend devoted to ragtime..... well it isn't....
it's just great music. Have a look at the website www.bohemragtime.com
and if you can't make it there this year, bookmark it for next.

Meanwhile if you'd like to hear the UK take on Turk and Lu, there are
soundtracks and a couple of video links on my website.
The band also recorded a tune written by our bandleader; wait with bated
breath to hear it (I've been wondering how to point out that baited
breath is just garlic laced :-) )
