[Dixielandjazz] Joe Tarto's Tuba

Joe Tarto's stand tuba was once owned by Frank Harris, a tuba-bass player
from Detroit who traveled with Wild Bill Davison and recorded with him in a
band called the Surfside Six.  Frank was a great young player back in the
1970s when I met him and had a shuffling four beat style on that horn that
really drove the rhythm forward.  It's possible that the cover on their LP
showed that horn, but I have snapshot of it in a basement house party in
this area when Wild Bill and Frank jammed with our band.

Unfortunately, Frank died as a young man and I often wondered whence he went
in the years since the 1970's.  Anybody with stories about Frank and that
horn would be appreciated.
