And, as I've mentioned before several times, the original Dukes of Dixieland
(Oh, dear...another 1,000 posts will roll in just because I mentioned their
name again!!) used tuba or bass depending on the song.  I thought it really
worked well.  Not that easy to find both instruments played well by one
person, though.
