[Dixielandjazz] Just a Closer Walk

A few years ago there was an interesting thread about the search for when and how
the great gospel song "Just a Closer Walk With Thee" was brought into virtually
all musical genres.  I don't have reference to that now.  According to the Wiki source
on the internet----

"The first known recording was by the Selah Jubilee Singers on 
October 8, 1941, (Decca Records 7872) New York City "

My questions are---
...Does anyone have information as to an earlier recording?

...:I acquired somewhere--maybe the internet--a 1943 recording of this
tune by a George Lewis configuration (rather nice I might add). 
Would anyone know of an earlier jazz recording?
