Not great, perhaps, but much better than "adequate," even if some of
his records show him hardly even that.

Try the record mentioned by Bill - I've found it wonderful!  And Mezz
has made quite a few other good recordings, which indeed show him to
be "very competent."  Unfortunately, also quite a few mediocre ones.
