I'm not going to take sides in this discussion. You can all go back and
forth about string instruments & horns till the cows come home.
As far as I'm concerned, if that question came up about "what instrument
would you take with with you to a desert island?" it would have to be a
piano.
I don't play one (or any other instrument for that matter) but it has always
been my favorite instrument as it can be so many things to so many people,
whether your tastes are jazz, pop, classical, or even country or rock..
While my musical preferences have always leaned more to the category of big
bands, I am equally comfortable listening to a piano, whether it be Errol
Garner, Earl "Fatha" Hines, Ramsey Lewis,Carmen Cavallaro, Fats (Waller or
Domino) or Artur Rubinstein.
It is the one instrument that needs no other..Yes, I realize you can say
that of the organ, harmonica or accordian as well, but I just never took to
any of them.
Not saying that anyone is right or wrong but just give me a piano and I'm
content.....on second thought, you might want to add some wine and
cheese.tothat.
