[Dixielandjazz] Tenor Guitar

Ok, I hate to sound like an idiot in not knowing what instrument my 
fellow bandsman plays.  Some say it is a tenor guitar.  Others say it is 
an alto guitar.  Can some of you string guys set the record straight?  
Jules tunes it like a violin.  In any case, we prefer this sound to a banjo.
