Definitely not politically correct today.
Peggy's expression reminds me of my mother, who used to say "manana" alot and as a kid I always wondered where she got that that word from. Probably Peggy's tune.
My mom was a huge lover of big band music and used to go dancing 7 nights a week while she was in the WAC in Longbranch just outside of Toronto.
She even hitchhiked to NYC with her girlfriend dressed in their army clothes. I guess they thought the uniform would offer some kind of protection, but those were such different times compared to now!

Thanks Steve, for posting these links.
I love Peggy Lee. I think she was of Norweigen (did I spell that right?) extraction eh?

Hi Barb:
Part Norwegian and part Swedish. Birth name was Norma Deloris Egstrom. As Iraj suggester, she had several Central and South American type tune hits. Like "Manana" in 1948 (#1 on the US charts), and "Caramba! It's the Samba" (#13 on the US Charts) that same year.
For "Manana" which she co-wrote with first husband Dave Barbour, see:

Dave Barbour started his career as a banjo/guitarist with Wingy Manone. He and Lee met when they were with Benny Goodman's band circa 1943. They left Goodman and she "quit" music to raise a family. She started to sing again in 1945. I believe that is Barbour on the you tube clip.
Would that song be politically correct today? <grin>
Cheers,
Steve Barbone
