Hi Barb:

Part Norwegian and part Swedish. Birth name was Norma Deloris Egstrom.  
As Iraj suggester, she had several Central and South American type  
tune hits. Like  "Manana" in 1948 (#1 on the US charts), and "Caramba!  
It's the Samba"  (#13 on the US Charts) that same year.

Dave Barbour started his career as a banjo/guitarist with Wingy  
Manone. He and Lee met when they were with Benny Goodman's band circa  
1943. They left Goodman and she "quit" music to raise a family. She  
started to sing again in 1945. I believe that is Barbour on the you  
tube clip.

Would that song be politically correct today? <grin>
