Philosophy? Well, I have a degree in the subject and earn money writing reference books and editing other books on the topic. The current top dog in Scottish History, Professor Tom Devine of Edinburgh is another OKOM fan, Professor Valentine Cunningham of Oxford is even a bandleader and a trumpeter whose idol is Harry Edison. Another jazz fan was Professor John Anderson, sometime of Sydney NSW, Scottish father of Australian philosophy.
If anybody has the collection of essays on jazz which includes the abominable Sartre's essay on jazz they should post it on this site at once.
It is all about the darkly sexual et cetera, and appears to have followed from the effect on JPS's overheated consciousness of a visit to New York in the late 1940s, specifically one venue -- what on this site is called an OKOM venue, like Condon, man!
It would be a knockout to have this read in a highly hammy bad French accent while a suitable ensemble delivered a quiet JAZZ ME BLUES. ....
