Hi John,

My eyes did not glaze and it greatly helped me understand why horn players
cry when asked to play Winter Wonderland in concert F. I did try the
exercise you recommended. Now, granted, I was not pressing a valve but I did
not find it hard to do the exercise rather quickly. I have played piano
since childhood, typed well since high school, sax and bassoon since high
school and played banjo since age 38 so those things may make crucial
differences.

That said, I much appreciated your taking the time to explain about what
is hard for new youngsters. I started teaching children as young as eight
to play banjo about two years ago. It has been such an education for me to
watch how flummoxed they are about moving their fingers into changing chord
positions! I keep musing about ways to try to make the finger
coordination a less frustrating matter for them.

Well, I guess non-brass players eyes have glazed over by now, so I'll end
this. Thanks for reading.
Merry Christmas to all those who celebrate it and joyous Hanukkah to those
who celebrate that holiday.
Peace & good will to all.
