Mike barely knew me, but he always greeted me like an old friend. He
always tickled me with his prolific quoting.

>> Mike Starr, long-time trombone player with the Golden Gate Rhythm Machine (www.santhony.com/ggrm/starr.html), long-time member of the Fulton Street Jazz Band, and the trombone with the Jimmy Diamond band at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco during the 1980s, as well as trombonist with other bands, passed away last night after a long fight with cancer and Alzheimer's disease. He was one of the really nice guys in the music business as well as getting some of the best, smoothest, and cleanest trombone sounds of anyone around.
