Hi all,
The first weekend in May sees the third Norwich Jazz Party and I am pleased to say that numbers are up on 2008. The ticket price this year has increased to £160 (app $230) for Brits (but down from about $290 for those paying in US$) which as Steve B states shows that if you put on the right musicians in the right venue people will pay. For their money patrons will get just over 26 hours of music over three days from the likes of (from USA) Warren Vache, Jon-Erik Kellso, Ken Peplowski, Scott Robinson, Dan Block, Tardo Hammer, Bucky Pizzarelli, Howard Alden, Chuck Riggs, John Bunch and new American resident Rossano Sportiello, (from Canada) Jim Galloway plus from our side of the pond Rico Tomasso, Roy Williams, Mark Nightingale, Sir John Dankworth, Alan Barnes etc. etc. This year we have attracted patrons from Germany, Norway, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Austria, Canada, Australia, South Africa and all parts of the UK so we must be doing something right!
Still tickets available so if you Americans want to pop over for the weekend you will be very welcome as your countrymen seem absent from the audience this year (flights available to London for around $460). Of course if you are closer to Norwich and fancy some excellent music we would love to see you!
Jerry
Norwich,
U.K.

In Caesarea, tickets are NIS 250 a day (if bought at a ticket agency;
slightly less if bought directly from the festival), which equals
about $60. Still they sell very well despite the recession.
Actually, a friend wanted me to get him tickets, as I am entitled to a
discount, but, having found out that the festival offices run out of
"attarctive seats," (his words) decided to buy from an agency. The
festival will take place in the second weekend of June, and tickets
for the Friday concert are already in short supply.
The big name is Chris Barber, even though Antti Sarpilla is making a
second appearance, having been here last year.
Support live jazz!
Cheers,
Marek
