A good article shared by Steve B.... THANKS for the share.... only addition I
can make is the....

"Band Leader's wife or girlfriend factor"

Not a force easily reconed with which takes a lot of tact and diplomacy and
patience. Often times it is not the Band Leader's but a Band Memter's
wife/girlfriend involved....

They are always an 'expert' based on how we did it last week in
'tim-buck-two' and could you please raise the level of Tom (or Dick or Harry whoever she is
attached to)....

I will never forget one year I was mixing for a group "Pieces of Eight".... a
avery high energy R&B band and the band leader's girlfriend was asking for
louder sound (which was peaking 108 DBa.... and a few minutes later someone in
the audience asked me to lower the sound and it was then I noticed the house
master was fully down/off - as in no sound reinforcement at all.....

So bandleaders be aware that the leader's or musician's significant other can
be somewhat forceful, demanding, and/or intimidating to the volunteer sound
person in the back. In most cases (not always) the sound person has some
knowledge of what he/she is doing and only occassionaly needs some gentle reminders
and/or guidance.

Thanks again Steve for the share
