[Dixielandjazz] One Toke Over The Line

I saw this live when I was home from college one weekend. I was dial flipping and came across this. I told the story about seeing this for close to 35 years to the disbelief of all. Finally a year or two ago I decided to search for it on youtube and there it was in all its glory. I was vindicated, and I informed as many of my friends as I could about it.

Most of them described their reaction as what I would call a Danny Thomas coffee spit take. It was a classic TV moment from the early '70s, and I thank my mom and dad for being away that Saturday evening so I could roll on the floor without having to explain why to them.

No wonder folks get confused over the message in music. Here's a
Lawrence Welk You Tube of "One Toke Over The Line", a song about
smoking a joint. He introduced it as a modern spiritual written by
  some young writers.

To see the original writers do it, and the story about it, visit:

Perhaps not OKOM, but then, many OKOM songs are about pot.
