NEW ORLEANS JAZZ with EAST COAST CLASS
at a concert fundraiser for the annual
Trad. Jazz Youth Band Festival (TJYBF)
directed by Dr. Steve Roach.
   The Sacramento Traditional Jazz Society and Nelmar
Construction present Ed Polcer's East Coast All-Stars
at a fundraiser for the annual Trad. Jazz Youth Band Festival.
    The "Long Live JAZZ" concert features nationally-known
musicians Wycliffe Gordon (of the Lincoln Center Orch.) and
saxophonist Houston Person as part of a sextet performing
classic jazz and swing for dancers and listeners alike.
Bandleader and cornetist Ed Polcer hires only the best musicians
for his nationwide tours. For many years, he was co-owner of
the famous Eddie Condon's Jazz Club in New York City, and he
has performed for President Clinton at the White House and for
the King of Thailand in Bangkok. The East Coast All-Stars will
perform at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Christ Unity
Church in Sacramento, then teach a jazz-ensemble clinic at
Rio Americano High School on Wednesday morning.
   Radio host George Esposito will emcee the concert that is
underwritten by Nelmar Construction and sponsored by
Arbors Records "Statesmen of Jazz," Midtown Stomp, KXJZ,
Jazzdagen Tours, The American Rag, and supported by
Savanna's Sunday Evening Jazz.
    Tickets are $25 in advance; $35 at the door.
  "Send-a-Student" tickets may be purchased to allow STJS to
send worthy young musicians to the concert for free.
   "Patron" tickets are $100 and include preferred seating plus a
chance to mingle with the musicians at a pre-concert reception.
