The East Bay society still sponsors only the Jazzinators. The
other bands are run by other entities, such as area schools, and
are invited by the society to perform at this annual event.
The East Bay society sponsors a similar "one afternoon, 3 or 4
bands" event in the spring, for adult Trad Jazz bands that are
just getting started or that have been together a while but have
no regular gigs. My own "Zinfandel Stompers" made their first
appearance at their adult band event last March, and it led to a
number of other bookings for us.
John and Sharon Soulis are prime movers in the East Bay Trad Jazz
Society, and John is also leader and trombonist with his own
Mission Gold Jazz Band. They're a good group -- I've had the
privilege of subbing with them on a number of occasions over the
past 3-4 years.
