For those who might be looking for an inexpensive means to import the music from their LPs to their computer:
I noticed that Costco ( a membership discount retailer in the US-- for those outside our borders ) has a turntable that might be useful to some of you. I don't have experience with this item so can't speak to its' quality.
Costco Item #153840 Audio Technica LP Turntable to Digital Recording System. $89.99 including shipping and handling. Includes: AT-PL50 stereo turntable with built-in switchable pre-amp; Cakewalk Pyro Software; adapter cables. The downside is that it only does 2 speeds 33 and 45, not 78.
It is probably not stocked in many of the stores -- it certainly isn't in mine in Gilroy CA. It is however shown on the website www.costco.com . Simply enter the item number 153840 in the search field and it pops right up...
