[Dixielandjazz] Mosaic Records Box Set Bix, Tram and Big T

I'm much more a fan of early Louis than Bix but I do enjoy Bix. I think the
most telling description of Bix's playing came from Eddie Condon when he
said that the sound of Bix's tone was like a girl saying "yes".

Hi Marek,

I hate to start an argument, but if Bix was just another Dixieland player,
then why is he still remembered?

I believe that it has to do with his choice of notes as well the material
and the combination of players that were on the records, and the
arrangements.

Why did Lester Young carry a 78 copy of "Singin The Blues" around with him
for many years?

Read what Jim Cullum has to say about it:
http://www.riverwalkjazz.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6727.

It was the musicality, the ability to improvise, the material, and many
other factors that made the difference, in my opinion.

Read about him and listen; then you might understand what made it great.
