[Dixielandjazz] Mosaic Records Box Set Bix, Tram and Big T

Hello Steve,
I protest!
I know why Bix was so revered and what made him great!
I have almost all his known recordings (some have been unearthed after
I purchased the last collection). And I DID mention "some
extraordinary ideas." However, and that's something you must have
missed, I said "I have not yet heard a CD (including "Bixology") on
which that elusive "silver tone" quality of his was reproduced," and
asked " but does it really give one an idea why Bix has
been so idolized by his generation?"
Ignoring that really twists what I have said. Bix might have been the
greatest after Armstrong (to some - even greater), but CD reproduction
usually (always?) misses the MOST IMPORTANT quality of his playing -
the tone!
And I have "read what Jim Cullum has to say about i," and listened to
the programme as well.
By the way, I have already initiated a discussion of the Bix tone" and
CD subject once, but it might have been on the Mississppi Rag Bulletin
Board.
Cheers
