Re Don's South Frisco pizza tape:

Don is truly to be commended for having went to the trouble to record that evening, especially as his recorder was stereo.  Like most live SFJB recordings, the piano is virtually unhearable, but that no doubt stems from the standard placement in places like that of an upright against the wall.  In a couple places there was some monkeying with input levels (can't blame you, Don, what with all that was happening in that room!), but I was able to more or less even things out, and with a gentle digital cleaning, the final product is a nice window in jazz time.  It's unique amongst live SFJB, in that the reed is soprano sax rather than clarinet (and not Mike Baird; Hal Smith told me once who it most likely was, but I forget), and the trumpet is Al Crowne (Demond is on trombone)...,
