Hello Stan,
I have some of the recordings with Diz, any many from JATP. He and Peterson
met at the JATP, apparently in 1949, and Brown stayed with the trio for
about 15 years.
He might have become known in the jazz circles through his work with Diz
(until 1951), but the general public became aware of him through his work
with Peterson. So perhaps he came to prominence through his work with Dizzy
and, even more so, the JATP, but he became famous, even outside the bop
coterie, through his work with Peterson.
Cheers
