Aw c`mon Steve,
its a song not a treatise on contemporary morals.  The question is not `does 
she want to be raped`  it is `shall I kiss her?`  Its a love song which is 
what most songs were in that era.

You will be telling us next that `Mairsy doats` reeely means `Is Mary 
getting her oats regularly`

Why can`t everyone just accept that the song writer was a Boy Scout `pure in 
thought ,word and deed` and was just looking for a line that scanned and 
rhymed. instead of dragging in some far fetched innuendo .
