Hi guys:

This is indeed the newest form of GORILLA marketing and it does work,
If they do it correctly they will garner a few million listeners around
the world and if they like their music they can always buy the Second
and subsequent CDs or pay to download them as the future will no doubt
be.

Surprisingly enough so could any Dixieland Band that took the time to
go out and do this same thing, at least they could garner a lot more
fans and such if they at least tried and who knows where it might
actually take them. Nothing ventured nothing gained and it is basically
free to do this. Beats dusting off those boxes of CD and cassettes in
the garage every few months, move em out, at least somebody will hear
them at least one time, and heck they might like them enough to buy
some more or recommend them to their friends. Heck give em away at
Flea markets if you have to, just make sure your name and phone number
is on them so anybody who likes it can call you and book you to play
live where you can sell the next CD.

Send them to radio stations too guys, if you don't you can bet they are
never going to play them, many will not anyway, but some of them will,
again nothing ventured nothing gained. If at first you don't succeed
Try Try again, just like making Love, but not quite as much fun. :))

Now I believe I just heard the name Robbers Dog Jazz Band in this
email for the first time since I have known you :)) Just got to keep
gettin' the name out there in front of folks some will like it some
won't but if we don't get it out to them they are not likely to come
looking for it or accidentally stumble across it. Sooner or later the
kids we all keep talking about are going to discover this music again
and in great numbers. History keeps repeating itself over and over.
Fortunately it is a good thing for Timeless great music as well.

That band is on a band site full of wannabes and groups that are
convinced that THEY are the Next Big Thing and the world is just
waiting to make them superstars with their great songs: there are
82,000 + bands on that one site , and only one semi Dixieland band on
the site
doing any marketing and it is constantly in the top fifty viewed bands
on the site can you guess which band it is ??? :))

They also have great respect from many of those kids on the site who
post about them on the community forum often.

Cheers,

Dear Bill:

I agree with you about the premise of the article. The major labels are
just
not interested in most bands/musicians. And so it is up to aspiring
music
stars to make their own records, do their own download programs and
figure
out how to get mass exposure without being controlled by philistines.

What is hysterical is how bad Yellow Thunder Woman's music is. When we
add
that to the context of her rant, it is easy to see why they are trying
to
give their music away free. Trouble is, like any "give away" marketing
ploy,
giving away bad music free only hastens its demise.

Take a look at their web site and hear some of their "art".

Cheers,
Steve (Red Thunder Man) Barbone
