I think what tends to be forgotten is that the new and the old 
peacefully coexist, at all times.  Even before the internet, where 
there's a desire, there's a provider.  Modern iPod downloading ... 
replacement parts for Edison cylinder machines ... it's all there, all 
the time.  Just depends on your chosen milieu (which was, for all those 
paying attention, dictionary.com's Word of the Day for January 26, 2003),
