[Dixielandjazz] From Analog to Digital

I convert from analog to digital regularly, both for having a convenient way
of playing my collection and for the weekly jazz programme I run on local
radio.
I'm writing this because I've stopped using CD's. Instead I use minidiscs. I
bought a Sony Walkman (should cost about $150 in the States) and this
enables me to record 2½ hours of music on one disc, or at cassette quality 5
hours of music. I get the following advantages with minidiscs:
1) The discs are re-recordable, such that one bad track can be removed and
re-recorded, or the tracks can be shuffled;
2) The discs are much smaller making storage much easier;
3) The Walkman is about the size of a packet of cigarettes, and can be
connected either electronically or optically to the PC;
4) The Walkman can be operated using an AA battery and headphones.
5) The discs are permanently held in the jewel cases, thus reducing the risk
of damage, i.e. the jewel case plus the disc is inserted into the Walkman
both when recording and playing back.
Cheers
