Many thanks for the numerous responses to my question as to what aspect of
music theory was beneficial to your progress.  I have extracted what seems
helpful to my practice routine.

Probably more important than the suggestions is the encourgement.to get on
with developing whatever innate ability I have.  The "gift" (though ordinary)
plus productive practice--can have positive results.
