Usually, Peter has two red socks. Maybe it was near Christmas 8-).
I too used to love Eli's use of Zils on Egyptian Fantasy and I saw him
do it many times. Another fun thing was done when the NBEJB were going
to play El Albanico (The Fan). Eli would slip off the stage and
position himself somewhere else, like a balcony if possible, and play
the opening part from there. It created a great effect and involved the
audience aurally and visually.

Jim O'Briant and others who stated that the band that oozes fun onstage
will
have a good audience reaction is correct.
I have never forgotten the one performance I heard of the New Black
Eagles
many years ago
in Bangor, Maine. The banjoist sat in front of the band, conspicuously
displaying one red sock and one green one. The tuba player not only held
down the
bass part on 'Egyptian Fantasy" but played finger cymbals in a wide arc
over
his head at the same time! Corny? Maybe, but the audience loved it, and
that's what counted. Sure made an impression on me.
