That would be Eli Newberger who is somewhat skilled on the tuba. He has 
appeared at the Sacramento Jazz Jubilee a number of times and always packs 
the joint! I can see where he made an impression on you.

Just thought I'd provide a name to go along with the description "the tuba 
player."
