I have the Dixie Rebels' "True Dixieland Sound" LP (Command RS 33-825).
The personnel listed are "Big Jeb" Dooley-trpt/ldr, Cliff Leeman-drums,
Kenny Davern-cl, John Mortillero-piano, Milt Hinton-bass and Lou
McGarity-tbone. (No wonder you like them!) There's a copyright date of 1961,
but no other indication of when or where it was recorded.

I'm just wondering if anyone out there knows who made this recording?

[Tom] It seems that practice of "nom de recording date" crops up here. Found
this reference to Dixie Rebels and the claim that Pee Wee Erwin was "Big
Jeb" (or "Jim" in this quote . . .

"A traditional jazz and dixieland band that did some sessions for Command
Records in 1959 and 1961. The band included at times Pee Wee Erwin, using
the name "Big Jim Dooley," plus Kenny Davern, Milt Hinton and Panama Francis
among others."
