Dear Randy,
I hope you did not think that I was doubting you. I was just trying to
pinpoint examples on gramophone records to prove your point.
I have the books you mention and agree with your recommendation that they be
read by DJMLers.
You mention Eddie Condon's 1947 book 'We Called It Music" [a great title
BTW] in which he relates the stories behind his participation in the
recordings with Fats Waller in 1929 ("Minor Drag/Harlem Fuss" + "Lookin'
Good But Feelin' Bad/I Need Someone Like You"). It is a while since I last
read it so can't recall if he also mentions the other times he recorded with
Fats: 1932 and Billie Banks Rhythmakers, Lee Wiley in 1939 and the great Nov
1940 'Eddie Condon and His Band' session for Commodore.
