One of the toughest things is the person who doesn't "look" handicapped. My
daughter is one of those. Due to a skateboard accident when she was 11 she
has poor vision in one eye, poor hearing in one ear, doesn't feel things
normally on one side and can't stand for long periods of time yet she is
very bright. Those things make it very hard for her to keep a job without
the handicapped designation. She hates it and tries to hide it most of the
time. She refuses to get a handicapped plate but needs one. In most persons
eyes if you don't look handicapped you aren't which is hard at times. Even
doctors don't believe she is head injured until she shows them the scar
where they removed the top of her skull to fix it. If Doctors don't
understand how can the general public?
