Hi Listees, I was amazed today when I read Nat Hentoff's column in our local paper. A very insightful article titled "Sweet Land of Liberty - Bringing Jazz Musicians back to life" I won't attempt to quote from it except to say that it paints a very graphic picture of what has happened to our own American art form - it is accepted and loved world-wide except in America. Of course we give everything away. We gave Hitler the capability to produce rockets, we gave the Japanese the novelty 'transistor' which didn't seem to have much application. etc. However, if the word 'gets out', maybe the great American public will find that Jazz is not defined by "The Saints" or by Kenny G!!!
Regards, Charlie "hoping for the renaissance in Jazz" Coleman
