I have an old LP that I bought as a kid at Johnson's drug store in Bradley,
IL. It's a concert led (I think, haven't played it in a long time) led by
Jimmy McPartland. When he introduces Singleton, he pronounces the "u" in
Zutty. Like the "oo" in "book."

I confirm Bill's pronunciation from a few guys I knew many years ago that
said it that way. Likely is likely derivitive of Zoot suit craze of 1940s.
This last part is just a guess but seems likely. They should have named him
Zooty ... but that's life. Dick B.
