Harvey, I am not a recording engineer.  However, the mike should be placed
to best pick up all notes from a reed instrument.  In the case of an
instrument as large as a bass sax, perhaps 2 mikes might be used.

Contrary to what a lot of people think, the sound of a clarinet or sax does
not come out of the bell of the horn as it does with a trumpet or trombone.
