[Dixielandjazz] Evergreen Jazz Festival

Don, I don't disagree with your assessment of the changes that have occurred
in Evergreen, but it's still charming compared to, for example, most towns
within 50 miles of Denver, and almost any town on the I-70 corridor. Look
at Castle Rock or Longmont if you want to see traffic and sprawl. Legalized
gambling and its attendant casino construction have robbed Black Hawk and
Central City of any charm they had. Breckenridge has more traffic problems
than they can handle. And Aspen? Poor Schnickelfritz must be turning in
his grave. And now some contruction interests have planned a major
development between Minturn and Leadville, of all places!

There's a great jazz festival (but not trad) in genuinely charming
Westcliffe, CO: Jazz in the Sangres (for the Sangre de Cristo mountain
range). It must be the most remote festival in the world -- Westcliffe is
halfway between Wetmore and Texas Creek, CO.

I note that the Queen City Jazz Band is going to play Colorado's Telluride
Jazz Festival this year; I think that's the first time they've booked a trad
band there. (Telluride is another place that's rapidly becoming
overdeveloped.)
