My wife Jean and I owned a small cabin above Evergreen for several
decades, though we seldom got back often enough. We lived in town for a
few years andI worked wiht several bands in Denver before heading off to
Aspen to work with Freddie Fisher and later with Joe Marsala before
movingont o CA.
Last tme we were back in Evergreen the town was no longer "charming" as
we knew it. The traffic jams were terrible, and the lovely hills a mess
of ill-thought building. The little town of Evergreen may ve a great
place to hold a jazz concert but I doubt we would ever live there again.
Progress, I guess, but when people discover some "charming" little place
they flock to move there -- and immediately change it from what is was
that carmed them.
Ah well -- change is the only constant in life. Enjoy the music before
it changes beyond recognition beyond all recall.
Curmudgeonly yours,
Don Ingle - Championing the move to remove In God We Trust from our
money and replace it with Bah, Humbug!!
Would I run for the Surpremem Court? No - I'd run from it these days
after the recent emminent domain ruling. (Where did they get these people?)
There -- I feel much better now. I'd kick the dog to be sure but the dog
died last year, another sign of change!
