Of course Casper Milquetoast is an American popular culture reference 
from an earlier era, still used by older folks and by a few younger 
ones who know the meaning but not the source from the comic page. I was 
a comics nut as a kid and have several histories of the comics in my 
library.

Like you, Bill, I often enjoy the internationalism of the list in that 
I hear different expressions and new names.
