Thanks for posting this Stan:
Here is yet another way for Dixieland Bands to go out and get a place to play
to a decent crowd and rekindle a lot of interest in the music and make new
fans who will be delighted to buy your CDs if you have them. A lot more
rewarding than playing in a pizza parlor to thirty or forty folks while their kids
drive everyone nuts playing the video games. :))
Cheers, And good luck to Ron and the guys.
By the way bandleaders there are at least 200 of these events going on all ove
r the state of California every month, just go goggle for Farmers Markets and
see where they are. You could play one or two every day of the week if you
wanted to. If you only sold fifty CDs at each one at $10.00 each it is a
$500.00 a gig rehearsal in front of a live appreciative audience. If the promoter
of the event will pay you as well take the money.
If your band is not good enough to sell at least fifty Cds a day however, do
everyone else who's band is, a favor and don't go out there and play and ruin
the event. If you don't have a CD to sell please don't go out there either
and work for free taking a spot away from a band who is trying to sell music
and make a living.
