The Nickel-A-Dance Soirees will return to Cafe Brasil on Sunday, October 3,
and this year's series, which features eight Sunday-afternoon dances, will open
with Charlie Miller's Creole Rhythm Kings.  There is no admission charge for
the concerts/dances, which will be held from 4-7 p.m., every Sunday in October
to celebrate "Jazz Awareness Month." In addition, the series will continue
with three more concerts in November as lagniappe. Cafe Brasil is located at
2100 Chartres St., at the corner of Frenchmen and Chartres. Children, families,
and the general public are invited.

The full concert/dance schedule is as follows:

November 14  Jack Maheu & Fire in the Pet House Callithumpian Jazz Band
November 21 Walter Payton's File' Gumbo with Al Carson

The Nickel-A-Dance Soirees began with one concert ten years ago and has grown
into an 8-week series featuring the best of New Orleans jazz bands. As they
have done in the past, anonymous music fans continue to join together with the
Jazz Centennial Celebration and a growing list of sponsors to celebrate jazz.
In addition, proprietors of Cafe Brasil have donated the use of the venue to
the Nickel-A-Dance Soirées, which have helped revive the neighborhood dance
traditions that used to be widespread across the city.
Supporters for this year's Nickel-A-Dance Soirees include:
