Ahhh But some folks like it Fast Brian while others like it Half Fast, a lot
of that has to do with the type of shows and venues the band played.

Entertainment Groups with a live Show generally did and still do play things
harder, louder and faster in show settings where they have to entertain the
folks and motivate them to get up and dance and get involved in the show. Not
every song however. And yes with some acts it can certainly be overdone.

Tends to create more excitement at least for the younger folks and some of
the older ones who remember their days of fast drinking, dancing and living.

Not only in OKOM music, it is also quite popular in Bluegrass, Country, Rock &
Roll and Irish music as well as many other styles around the world that I
recall.

Cheers,

Tom Wiggins
Approaching Half Fast at this stage of life, but the tempos do get faster
towards the end of the program as the old guys run out of steam, or need to get
off the bandstand to recycle a beer :))
