Listmates: Leticia and I are back and resubscribed after 5 stressful and,
yet fulfilling weeks in Europe. We rode on camels in Morroco, went to a
bullfight in Sp-ain,
Walked on the beaches in Normandy, and watched the changing of the guard at
Buckingham Palace. But best of all, were the 2 nites I spent playing jazz
with Kash and the Canal Street Jazz Band in Madrid, and the Good Time Jazz Band
in Portimao, Portugal. Kash has a real powerful group. They are all monster
players, and I felt a bit intimated trying to keep up with them. But they were
very gracious, warm and hospitable. to us. They fill the clubs where they
play with YOUNG PEOPLE, who cheer and clap with great enthusiasm. It Doesn't
get much better than that.

Listmate Ivor, a bloody welsh man living in Portugal has put together a very
acceptable group considering it was off season for them. a band with real
soul, and a band that really brings joy to an area of the world that has much
peace, sunshine and relaxation. It was a very pleasant and fulfilling experience
for us. So we are back to Palm Springs with temps in the comfortable110's
Farenheit (with air condtioning) instead of the sticky and sweltering 80's and
90's of Europe. It was a great experience, but I don't think I will do it
again. Many thanks to Kash and Ivor, and for the CD's they gifted me us with.
I am taking a Jazz cruise in South America With Jassdagen Tours and several
jazz groups starting in October for 17 days. Should be a great experience.
Dick Redmond. Palm Springs, CA.
